The Nutrition Society is governed by a Board of Trustees (traditionally known as Honorary Officers) elected by our members. Our Trustees, headed by our President, collectively set the strategic direction of the Society, are responsible for the business of the Society and oversee all of the Society’s activities.

The Advisory Council is responsible for advising our Trustees on matters of policy, external relations, governance, spending and income-generation.

The Nutrition Society’s Committees provide strategic input and advice on a range of different specialist and operational areas. The Society’s three Sections (the Irish, Scottish and Student Sections) represent members in Ireland and Scotland in addition to our student members.

The Themes were set up to represent new and developing areas of nutritional science.  Each Theme is led by a Theme Leader who acts as a direct link between the membership and the Science Committee.  They liaise with, and represent the interests of, Nutrition Society members.

Honorary Fellowship of the Nutrition Society is awarded to distinguished individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the Society, and for their long term committment to nutritional science.

Staff of the Nutrition Society are based at our headquarters in Hammersmith, London. The staff manage the Society’s day to day activities including communication with members and management of projects to deliver the Society’s objectives.
